Tokyo James ss19: An Alien In Africa

January 5, 2019 | By Valerie Ekpo

British-Nigerian designer, Tokyo James has unveiled his SS19 collection tagged An Alien in Africa.

The name, An Alien in Africa was inspired by Tokyo’s budding relationship with his father, who he just recently met for the first time. Making his dad, the alien in his life.

For this campaign, Tokyo features the use of animals, as is featured on some of the outfits, in the snake skin used on the bags and the blazers and the snakes featured in the editorial.

For colours, James explores pastels like lilac and peach as well as dark colours like grey. He maintains structured cuts for the designs, because he has designed this look for the man, who is fluid enough to wear pastels and still embrace his masculinity.

Tokyo James’s Style is structured, simple and fresh, and he reiterates that in this collection.
